VacuumWizard.com Ranks Miele S5 Canister Vacuum #1 in Value
Princeton, NJ – May 6, 2011 – Top ranked review site, VacuumWizard.com evaluates a full spectrum of vacuum cleaner models representing over a dozen vacuum cleaner brands.  Uniquely this site tests vacuums in real situations, employing actual homeowners to use and rate the machines. For over 6 years Tomaz Mencinger, president of VacuumWizard.com has called upon homeowners to use and evaluate all kinds of cleaning machines, “I decided the only way to really provide good information is to test vacuums in real situations.  These tests need to be good enough for the average and more demanding homeowner to understand – but not too scientific or complicated.”
Miele has been rated four out of five stars in overall value for the S5 canister vacuums, emphasizing the zero particle emissions and amazing suction power of the machines. The S5 is noted for its ergonomics and superb performance.  “It is an honor to receive positive evaluations from the VacuumWizard raters,” said Paul McCormack, spokesperson for Miele.  “Real world testing by discriminating homeowners is the best way to receive feedback, allowing us to pursue our Miele mantra – Immer Besser, or Forever Better – constantly evolving and improving.”
VacuumWizard.com tests vacuum cleaner performance on a full range of flooring options, including carpets, hard wood floors, rugs, vinyl, ceramic, bricks and linoleum.  They measure filtration using a laser particle scanner, noise levels using a decibel meter and a special device specially created for measuring suction power.  Additionally the reviewers rate maneuverability, ease and thoroughness of edge and stair cleaning, all critical components to customer satisfaction.  Miele ratings are higher than average for all of these test criteria.
The site receives an average of 67,000 unique visitors per month and has logged as many as 10,000 in a single day.  Moving forward the site will have an aggregator which will allow consumers to identify desired features and attributes, which will then compare all of the tested brands and models, yielding a recommendation(s) for the user.  This comparative software will thrive on data, encouraging VacuumWizard to continually test and feed the database.
Miele, pursuing its’ Immer Besser philosophy will continue to provide machines for testing.  Insights gained will be shared with Miele engineers and designers in Germany for consideration while developing new models.  To see how the vacuums all stack up visit www.vacuumwizard.com.
About Miele Vacuum CleanersMiele vacuums are known for legendary performance, advanced filtration and brilliant design, setting the standard for floor care and cleaning worldwide. Miele’s long heritage of vacuum innovations dates back 83 years to the use of Bakelite as a sound dampener in 1927, the advent of convenient integrated tools and stunning fashion colors in the 1960s to the world’s first HEPA-certified vacuums in the 1990s.
Miele continues to focus on making vacuuming easier through patented new technologies like the S7 SwivelNeck® as well as longer cords, automatic flooring sensors, powerful Vortex Motor Systems™ and silence settings. Miele’s passion for quality and innovation has resulted in a vacuum that excels not only in cleaning performance, but also in the area of filtration.
According to recent independent tests, there’s no other vacuum on the planet that removes dust, dirt and allergens as efficiently as a Miele canister or upright. Miele’s unique combination of AirClean filter bag, HEPA filter and Sealed System® design is 99.99+% effective in capturing lung-damaging particles. The key to this design is its hygienic self-closing AirClean filter bag whose revolutionary multi-ply filtering material helps homeowners dispose of the captured particles without coming in contact with them. HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner Improves Indoor Air Quality | HOST Dry Carpet Cleaning and Grout Cleaning System

HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner Improves Indoor Air Quality | HOST Dry Carpet Cleaning and Grout Cleaning System
Carpet provides the healthful role of filtering the air. It traps and holds soil, dust and allergens. The vertical pile of carpet traps and holds many times its weight in small particles, including dust and allergens, that enter into the indoor environment and descend onto it from above. Substantial research suggests carpet does not release these elements back into the air. However, just as it is important to clean or replace a furnace or HVAC filter, it’s important to routinely clean the carpets.
The HOST® System of applying HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner to the carpet, brushing it through the carpet and then vacuuming up the HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner removes dirt and reduces allergens. Research studies have shown that one cleaning with the HOST System using HOST Machines reduces: Dust mites by 78%, Dust Mite Allergen by 75%, Cat Allergen by 85%, Mold Spores by 85%. EPA Establishment Number: 074202-WI-001.

Just One HOST Carpet Cleaning Reduces Dust Mites by 78% and Dust Mite Allergen by 75%

A study of 25 homes, conducted in Wisconsin, to determine the effect of HOST Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning on dust mites showed a 78% drop in the average mite count. An extended study of 63 homes in Georgia and Wisconsin showed mite allergen decreased by 75% one day after HOST Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning. This research has been peer reviewed and was one of only 500 papers worldwide accepted for presentation at the Sixth International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and the Environment in Helsinki, Finland.
University laboratory tests prove HOST is not a food for dust mites. They eat only protein—skin scales—HOST is not a protein.

HOST Carpet Cleaning Dramatically Reduces Cat Allergen in Carpet

Pet allergens are one of the top indoor allergens to which people are sensitive. In 1995 and 1996 several homes, with a cat in residence for at least one year, were studied for the presence of cat allergens and the effects of HOST Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning in reducing them.
The study established that cat allergens (dander, hair and saliva) in carpet can be decreased 85% with a single HOST Dry Extraction Cleaning of carpet; a second carpet cleaning reduces the number of these allergens to even lower levels.
This study was presented at the Seventh International IAQ Conference in Nagoya, Japan, July 1996.
mold spore graph

Mold & Mold Spores Also Dramatically Reduced with One HOST Carpet Cleaning

Mold spores travel with wind current and are deposited on all indoor and outdoor surfaces. Mold allergens are found virtually everywhere in residential and commercial environments.
IAQ research showing HOST removes mold spores was confirmed by studies conducted in Wisconsin and Georgia. Mold spore levels in the Georgia test homes (humid climate) decreased by 85%. Levels in the Wisconsin homes (temperate climate) decreased by 94%.
This study was presented at the Seventh International IAQ Conference in Nagoya, Japan, July 1996.

Ten Ways You Can Improve IAQ…

  1. Fix roof and pipe leaks promptly.
  2. Keep HVAC equipment dry and operational. Disinfect drip pans often, change filters regularly.
  3. Insulate to prevent condensation.
  4. Increase ventilation/fresh air into building.
  5. Reduce humidity and keep indoor surfaces dry.
  6. Switch to low odor VOC paints, adhesives and cleaning products.
  7. Control dust; switch to treated dusting cloths.
  8. Remove dust buildup inside HVAC ductwork. Filter the air to trap dust and other airborne particulate.
  9. Use a high retention vacuum cleaner that retains particles larger than 0.1 micron. Respirable dust may be redistributed if a dirty or faulty bag is used.
  10. Use the HOST Dry Carpet Cleaning System for carpet care and maintenance.

Vacuum Features New Color; Steel Blue Metallic
Miele Celebrates Earth Day and Ecological Responsibility with S5 Earth® Vacuum

Princeton, NJ – April 15, 2011 – Miele, the world’s largest family-owned appliance company recognized for its longstanding sustainable production processes and incredible product lifespan, debuts its latest model in the S5 series – appropriately named Earth®, just in time to celebrate Earth Day. Simultaneously, Miele announces a new color for the Earth® vacuum, Steel Blue Metallic. This canister vacuum boasts some of the most energy-saving and ecologically-conscience advancements the global floor care industry has to offer. Featuring an AutoEco™ setting that automatically detects flooring surfaces; the Earth® vacuum adjusts power output for optimal cleaning performance and energy efficiency.
The Miele Earth® vacuum respects our precious planet from the first step of the manufacturing process through the duration of its life. Manufacturing methods and attention to detail ensure that each Miele vacuum leaving the factory has been tested to last 20 years, based on an average use of 45 minutes per week at maximum output. Only virgin, high-quality polymers are used to make Miele vacuum cleaners and are marked for easy recycling. Due to a highly advanced injection molding process, there is minimal scrap in production from the punching processes, therefore significantly reducing waste. The packaging for the S5 series vacuum cleaners comprises more than 80% recycled paper and is specially designed to keep the vacuum safe during transport, while remaining true to Miele's environmental protection standards.
Miele’s S5 Earth® vacuum has been proven cleaner for indoor air as all fine dust and allergens are trapped in its unique Sealed System™ featuring a certified HEPA filter and unique AirClean FilterBag. Miele’s revolutionary FilterBag consists of multi-ply, random-spun filter material and protective netting to reinforce the outer layer in order to ensure that dust and debris stays in the bag. Inside the AirClean FilterBag, air guides distribute dust evenly, achieving a 25% longer life cycle without compromising performance. A downstream HEPA filter then captures even the tiniest of particles, retaining lung damaging particles inside the vacuum.
“Protecting our planet by truly doing what’s right to safeguard our environment is of the utmost importance at Miele and has been for more than a century,” explains Paul McCormack, spokesperson for Miele. “As a global leader in the household appliance industry, we’ve been consistent in demonstrating our commitment to reducing energy consumption by offering products that are thoughtfully-designed and adhere to the strictest environmental guidelines. The new S5 Earth metaphorically represents this Miele family tradition while keeping the indoor air and environment cleaner and safer for our clients.”
Furthermore, Miele’s entire line of vacuum cleaners has earned the coveted Good Housekeeping Seal upon review by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.

Miele Partners with Jamie Oliver Food Revolution

Another reason why A Cleaner Place, VacShack.com is proud to be a Miele Authorized Dealer

Eating Better
Miele Partners with Jamie Oliver Food Revolution
Princeton, NJ – April 29, 2011 – 2010 TED prize winner and world-renown chef Jamie Oliver has launched his mobile Food Revolution – an 18 month, multi-city effort to “educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.” Miele is honored to be a part of this exciting and important initiative.  This partnership fully realizes the century old Miele mantra “Immer Besser” a German phrase meaning “Forever Better”.
Working with such a “passionate pusher” of healthy living like Jamie Oliver is a testament to the fact that not just any appliance brand will do when it comes to bringing food education to the forefront. The choice of Miele appliances is a perfect complement to the goal of “inspiring families to cook again”.  After all it is Miele’s mission to continuously offer culinary solutions which make it easy, fun and entertaining for families to experiment and learn in the kitchen, constantly making food better.
“The decision to work with Jamie Oliver to realize his vision of reducing obesity through food education was an easy one,” said Nick Ord, President and CEO of Miele, Inc.  “His vision and ours mesh perfectly – educate, inspire and empower families to live better.”
Food Revolution Flagship Mobile Classroom
A full suite of Miele appliances including two 36” refrigerators, three Master Chef 30” double ovens, Chef Series 60cm Microwave Oven, full-size Induction Cooktop and 30” canopy ventilation hood, 16 CombiSet™  Induction Units, and a top-of-the-line La Perla fully-integrated dishwasher have been installed in the mobile Food Revolution truck. Created to capitalize on the “grassroots” nature of this effort, the truck is traveling the country to teach kids about food and cooking, and to help train professionals and parents.
Designed pro bono by the prestigious Rockwell Group, best known for their hotel and restaurant designs including The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, the Wasabi by Morimoto and Starwood Resorts new Aloft Hotels, Miele was selected as a key performance player in the mobile kitchen.  David Rockwell, founder and CEO of the Rockwell Group said, “We feel that design plays an important role in sparking children’s imagination, and sending them on the road to a better life.”
Part of the “food education” will be correct preparation, using the best appliances for the job in a well-designed environment.  This early exposure to best practices will introduce children to the importance of thoughtfully considering how to prepare healthy meals using equipment which has also been thoughtfully designed.
“A few pieces of great gear area all it takes to make some incredibly tasty food,” said Jamie Oliver, chef, food activist and star of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. “My friends at Miele outfitted the Food Revolution truck with incredible appliances that not only last forever, but make cooking easy and fun.”
The Food Revolution – Miele Partnership
The bold graphics on the outside of the truck powerfully communicate who is on board.  The Miele brand is prominently shown as part of the spirited nature of the design.  The lively and energetic look is a nod to Jamie Oliver’s own way of cooking.
The truck is travelling to schools, farmer’s markets, state and street fairs.  The sides of the truck open out and a unique white band shell can be inflated outside of the back of the truck to house larger events.  When the sides of the truck are pushed out, an expo kitchen and eight separate cooking stations are revealed – all featuring two Miele induction CombiSet™ cooktops.  Each station has been custom designed to outfit two children with a kitchen’s worth of equipment.  These stations allow the children to work on their own, learning how easy it is to prepare healthy meals.
The community website www.jamiesfoodrevolution.com, celebrating the partnerships and Jamie Oliver’s wish to teach kids about food, is rife with healthy recipes, toolkits and tutorials.  Miele has joined the revolution.  You might want to consider joining too.  Log on and sign the petition.  Commit with Jamie Oliver, The Rockwell Group and Miele to “inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.”
