What Can I Pick up with my Vacuum Cleaner?

Can I pick up Christmas Tree needles with my vacuum cleaner?  Yes, of course you can.  You can also pick up pennies, dog poo, sugary drinks, small animals....need I go on?  Most of these we have found in vacuum cleaner bags and/or tanks.  Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.  Unless, of course, you want to pay your local vacuum cleaner store to get the clog out of your vacuum, or worse buy a new fan, motor or vacuum cleaner.

In our throw away society where some folks buy the cheapest vacuum cleaner they can buy, they have a tendency not to care for it well.  If you care for your vacuum well, you can avoid costly repairs, have it at home when you need it and not contribute to the landfill by throwing another one away.

Rule of thumb:  pick up (or sweep with a broom) whatever you can and only vacuum the rest.  A vacuum cleaner is made to "vacuum" up small particles.  It is not the equivalent of a food disposal for your floor.  It has no magical jaws that chew things up on their way to your tank or bag.  If is is too big, it gets stuck in your hose or in a spot that you will never find on your own and you will insist that there is something terribly wrong because it won't pick up....remember that expensive trip to the local vacuum cleaner store?

Be nice to your vacuum cleaner and it will work hard for a long time. Abuse it and you'll pay the price (of repairs or new vacuum cleaners.)  Questions?  email service@vacshack.com or call 405-491-9500.  Happy Cleaning!
